Pattern Aviator Hat - Part 1 by Kjiram Pattern Aviator Hat - Part 1 by Kjiram

It appears you don't have PDF support in this web browser. Download PDF

I used the patterns and tutorials of Clearkid until now.
But since I'm European I don't use inches and therefore I decided to remake the patterns based on clearkid's.

The patterns changed throughout my own hatdesigns so they are not exact copies of clearkid's patterns (just in case you were hoping so because they are awesome!)

Click download to get the PDF-file and print on A4.

hi! am new to the "sewing" and "hat making" world and this looks like it cud be helpful for me to make my hats. so each color is a different size hat...when i go to cut it...lets say my hat size is the green line...do i cut it by the light blue line or do i cut it exactly on the green line? cuz i know you gota leave like 1" of space for sewing.

Hi!

You cut on the green line, but when cutting your fabric you should leave an extra 1" or so around the entire pattern piece for sewing.

Looking good!

Good job on the ears. I'm always messing up with that part if I try to make ears with a 90 bend.

question! what does the completed hat look like basically? D: is this like the base you used for making the black lamb hat? WHICH I ADORE BTW

Yup, this is the base for all of my hats. All I change about it is adding ears, tails, tassels, decoration, etc.

do you think you could throw together a quick tutorial on how to actually put it together and how many of each part I'd need to make? because I'm getting confused about it. it doesn't seem like part 2 makes the whole band. I'm just getting confused because even looking at your hats I can't figure it out. >3<

It's sad that it was easier to find a proper hat pattern on deviant art than it was to find one on Google.

What is A4?

Or try printing it on US Letter or Legal. Make sure you don't resize the pattern or the sizes will be wrong.

Exactly. How do I set it to not resize?

You should be able to select that setting when you click on print. Make sure it's 100% and it should be fine.

It's an international paper size.

and when I do that, it will be the exact same size it's supposed to be to scale?
Reply
:iconkjiram:
Kjiram Featured By Owner Dec 16, 2010
Yup, printing to 100% (no scaling) should result in a usable pattern with the right dimensions (according to the indicated sizes on the pattern)
